240th AHC Members Today

Here is Ray Trott, Kennel Keeper 1, 1969-70, standing by his painting from Joe Kline, "Riders of the Storm." Ray flew with the Kennel Keepers, Greyhounds, Mad Dogs and also flew Charlie-Charlie. Prior to becoming a pilot in the 240th AHC, Ray was an NCO, GRUNT in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne. Ray is currently enjoying retirement in sunny Sterrett, Alabama.

Here is the better half of Ray Trott, his lovely wife, Nell Trott. Nell keeps Kennel Keeper 1 in line! Nell is a great cook, too, I have had the pleasure of personally tasting her "down home southern cooking!"

Here's Ben 'Gentle Ben' Thompson, Kennel Keeper 3, 1968-1969, and the lovely and talented Jo Thompson. Gentle Ben and Jo run their vegetable and fruit stand in Forest City, North Carolina. Jo is also a fantastic artist and exhibits her paintings in various art shows.

Since Gentle Ben Thompson was entertaining such distinguished guests in his home as Ragman and Mad Dog 6, Captain Doug Price, he brought out the best wine money can buy, NIGHT TRAIN!!!! You can see some of Jo Thompson's creative artistic talent hanging on the wall behind us.

Frenchy, Linda and I have adopted Rob Cobley as our honorary "little 240th Brother" and Rob and his wife, Vic, are from Great Britain. Rob found the 240th websites about a year ago, 10th of February 2001 to be exact, and we have become the best of friends and brothers. Rob and his wife hope to attend our 240th Reunion in 2002, at Dothan, Alabama. At one time, Rob was an avid military memorabilia collector of items from only the Vietnam War. Rob has reduced his collection but still has some books signed by the authors and some memorabilia from our war which he considers to be real treasures. Our little 240th Brother, from England, hopes someone from the 240th AHC will write a book about our company and he sure would love to have a signed copy from his adopted unit! To quote Rob personally, "I have always had a keen interest in Vietnam and collected a lot of 'cool' memorabilia over the years which was great, but I came to know the heroes that served and that is the greatest prize of all and I have the honor to call a few of them my personal friends!" Thank you, Rob, for your very kind and humbling remarks about America's Vietnam Veterans and we are honored to have you as an honorary member of the greatest helicopter unit that ever served in Vietnam, the 240th AHC! Rob and many from his generation wished their country had joined us in our fight again communism in South Vietnam. Rob is also getting together patches, medals and other items from his own families military participation that served in the armed forces of Great Britain against the Germans during World War 2 and having it framed and displayed in the home he and his lovely wife, Vic, own. In the photo from left to right, Vic Cobley, Phil, their friend and Rob himself. We don't have to ask whose side they are on when it came to the cowardly attack against our country on 9/11/01. Vic, Phil and Rob are wearing T Shirts which support the United States and there is no mistaking what flag they are holding. As well as being our friends, they are our loyal allies against this war on terrorism and the Union Jack and Stars and Stripes stand together as ONE!
